In drug discovery, electronic medical records (EMRs) data automation, single-cell RNA sequencing, early disease diagnosis, COVID research, and healthcare analytics. Although significant advancement has been realized in several problems in bioinformatics and biomedical applications, there remains scope for continued progress that can be achieved by applying modern AI and Machine Learning (ML) technology. This Research Topic aims to highlight innovations in the field of AI and how they have created a paradigm shift in solving the contemporary problems of bioinformatics and biomedical applications. Recently, bioinformatics has seen tremendous success in protein structure prediction.
Specifically, we want to follow current advances in AI-based technologies such as novel deep learning architectures, natural language-based models, transfer learning techniques, and fusion-based techniques. In addition, we will explore their application in critical areas in bioinformatics such as the prediction of 3D structures of unstructured Spain phone number list proteins, prediction of gene expression, identification of transposable elements, prediction of interaction between biologically important proteins (e.g., druggable proteins) and ligands. Furthermore, we will examine applications of AI-based technologies in biomedical applications such as prediction of autism spectrum disorders, COVID research, healthcare analytics, multi-source biomedical data integration, decoding and modulating neural activity linked to behaviors, treatment effects in biomedicine and risk factor analysis in diseases.
This research topic invites authors developing AI- or ML-based solutions for bioinformatics and biomedical application problems, including but not limited to Predictions of the 3D structure of unstructured proteins Predictions of important gene expression Identification of transposable elements Predictions of the interaction between biologically important proteins (e.g. druggable proteins) and ligands Drug discovery Predictions of autism spectrum disorders COVID research and healthcare analytics Multi-source biomedical data integration Decoding and modulating neural activity linked to behaviors.
